October Life Together News Digest with Pres. Harrison

In this Life Together Digest, the Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison, president of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, speaks with the Rev. Dr. James Baneck, executive director of LCMS Pastoral Education, about Set Apart to Serve, the Synod’s new long-term church work recruitment initiative.

“We’re forming our children to be the next generation of church workers and leaders in the church,” said Baneck. “We’re working with our influencers: generally pastors; church workers, which includes teachers, DCEs, deaconesses; with our parents; with our church leadership, to influence our children ... to engage them in the possibility of being church workers.”

Baneck and Harrison discuss the current and forecasted need for LCMS pastors and church workers, and the steps Set Apart to Serve is taking to encourage and equip the church to meet this need.
