“The church throughout the ages has cared for women, their children, families. ... Our congregations all across the United States, and our partners around the globe, are continually walking with people who are facing difficult family situations. ... We are here to walk with [mothers] as they’re pregnant, when the babies are born, and afterwards,” said Manor.

October Life Together News Digest with Pres. Harrison

In this Life Together Digest, the Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison, president of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, speaks with the Rev. Dr. James Baneck, executive director of LCMS Pastoral Education, about Set Apart to Serve, the Synod’s new long-term church work recruitment initiative.

“We’re forming our children to be the next generation of church workers and leaders in the church,” said Baneck. “We’re working with our influencers: generally pastors; church workers, which includes teachers, DCEs, deaconesses; with our parents; with our church leadership, to influence our children ... to engage them in the possibility of being church workers.”

Baneck and Harrison discuss the current and forecasted need for LCMS pastors and church workers, and the steps Set Apart to Serve is taking to encourage and equip the church to meet this need.

Learn Martin Luther's 'Simple Way to Pray'

The Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison, president of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, explains Martin Luther's ITCP method of prayer, which features four steps: instruction, thanksgiving, confession and prayer. Harrison also recommends "A Simple Way to Pray," which Luther penned in 1535 after his barber and friend, Peter Beskendorf, asked for some practical guidance on how to pray. "Luther's little book on prayer will revolutionize your prayer life," said Harrison.

August Life Together Digest with Pres. Harrison

In this Life Together Digest, the Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison, president of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, discusses the recent decision of the Synod’s Japanese partner church, the Nihon Ruteru Kyodan, to affirm the ordination of women. He also highlights the ongoing work of the Livonian Lutheran Project in Latvia, and the recent installation of the Rev. Dr. Juhana Pohjola as bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Mission Dioceses of Finland.

Reading from Ephesians 6, Harrison highlights the meaning and importance of the “confession” of Christians in the world today.

“We have a message: Christ is for sinners, only for sinners. ... Christ forgives sinners. That’s the bold confession we are going to continue to make, come what may.”

EAT | 5 Homework Snacks Kids Can Make!!

Your kids can only eat so many pretzels. :). Here are 5 snacks, easy enough for kids to make, that will give them energy to finish their homework and won't leave them bouncing off the wall once it's done.

Brown Paper Popcorn
Microwave 1/3 cup popcorn in a brown paper bag (folding down the corners of the bag so it doesn't open) for about 2.5 minutes. When popping slows down, remove. Be sure to monitor so nothing burns.

Semi-Homemade Pop Tarts
Unroll a can of crescent rolls, keeping them as rectangles. Pinch the seems closed. Spoon about 1 tablespoon jam in the center of rectangle, leaving about 1/4 inch empty along the edges. Place another rectangle on top and crimp edges with a fork. Bake at 425 for about 8-10 minutes.

Fruit Dip
Mix ¼ cup greek yogurt, ¼ cup almond butter, 1 tbsp honey, ¼ tsp cinnamon, ¼ tsp vanilla in a small bowl. Dip strawberries and apples!

Mug Cake
Mix 1 tbsp cocoa powder, 3 tbsp flour, 1/8 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp baking powder, 1 tbsp sugar, 3 tsp coconut or vegetable oil, 3 tbsp milk, 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract and 1 tbsp kid-friendly protein powder in a bowl. Pour into a mug and microwave for 1-1.5 minutes.

Summer 2021 is Here - Still 4 Weeks of Camp Remaining!!

Be Strong in the Lord

Proverbs 18:10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.

Join us for amazing fun this summer at Bethany Lutheran School! Our Summer Day Camp provides children a safe, stimulating environment where they will make new friends and explore their creativity. This program is led by experienced staff and features low student to staff ratios based on grade level (K-4 and 5-8). Day camp is open to students’ grades K – 8th (*child must have completed Kindergarten already) and open to all students from the community.

Create your child’s perfect summer with weekly or full summer options! Our summer day camp has been designed to provide you with flexible and customizable offerings. Days start as early as 6:30am and last as late as 6pm! Our 8-week session begins June 7th and ends on July 30th. Families also have the option of attending on a weekly basis. We do not offer pro-rated prices for partial weeks. If opportunity presents itself this summer we will strive to have a field trip once a week on Wednesdays and/or Fridays. Fridays will be reserved for a weekly bowling trip to Stars and BBQ possibilities for lunch. Field Trips are subject to cancellation due to lack of participation and travel will be provided by Vacaville Public City Coach (if offered) and/or parent volunteers. Again—this will only happen if things open up for field trip opportunities.

Activities vary from week to week and are designed to be age appropriate. All students will complete online enrichment activities in the morning with fun and crafts after. Possible activities available every session are: Arts & Crafts, Khan Academy Level Up in Math, English and Reading enrichment activities, Wednesday/ Friday Field Trips off campus (if possible), Creative Writing, weekly themes, and much more! Bowling and BBQ on Friday.

June Life Together Digest with Pres. Harrison

In this Life Together Digest, the Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison, president of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, reflects on the work of the 1,885 LCMS schools across the country and their 21,222 teachers to bring faithful instruction to over 200,000 students over the course of the past school year, even amid the ongoing challenges of hybrid learning and other pandemic-related measures.

“Never has providing a rich, Christ-centered education been so very important,” says Harrison. “Political and social ideologies contrary to God’s Word permeate many other schools, but our Lutheran schools provide a Christ-centered alternative, where Christ and His gift of forgiveness, life and salvation are taught and lived out.”

Summer 2021 is Almost Here - Camp Registration is Open!!

How to Get a Teenager to Clean Up - House Cleaning Made Easy

How do you get a teenager to clean up? Teenager chores are different from kid’s housework, right? Or if a teenager’s dirty room doesn't bother the teen, should it bother you?

We Ask a House Cleaner about cleaning motivation and cleaning hacks for teenager housework.

Angela Brown says kids cleaning the house is a good idea and trains them keep up a dirty room. Kids clean when there is a rewards system. And there should be a kid cleaning routine that easy for them to do.

  • Create an account or if they have one then sign in
  • Fill out information and select the grade choice

One of the most important components of an educational program, is the ability to offer diversity within the course matrix. While striving to provide a high quality academic program, we realize that electives are essential in building that diversity. Bethany Lutheran is proud to offer our students a very rich and diverse elective program. Electives are typically courses that fall outside of the main core academic subject areas (English, math, history, science and foreign language). Electives may reflect a teen’s interests, introduce or improve skills, or be directly related to a future career. Electives do not require as much time or work as a core course, but include educational content.

Our elective courses are comprised of 6 to 8-week modules, which allows the student to experience a variety of new and challenging courses while learning new skills. This year the courses below will be provided to students in grades 5 – 8. Although each student will have an opportunity to take an elective course, they may not be able to participate in each one that is offered due to their own individual academic course offering.

  • Dually accredited with Western Association of School & Colleges (WASC) & National Lutheran School Accreditation (NLSA)
