PLAY | 5 VALENTINES Kids Can Actually Make!


Ideas for 5 valentines that kids can make in bulk for the entire class... so that mom doesn't have to!

Watercolor Valentines

SUPPLIES
• Watercolor
• Stock paper
• Paintbrushes
• Empty toilet paper roll
• Acrylic paint

STEPS
1. Have kids paint on one piece of paper with watercolors.
2. Take empty toilet paper roll, and fold so it’s heart-shaped. Use as a stamp and dip into acrylic paint, and place on paper.
3. Once it dries, cut sheet of paper into little cards.
4. For an extra treat, you can tape a lollipop inside if you wish.

Playdough Hearts

SUPPLIES
• Plastic bags
• Playdough
• Heart-shaped cookie cutter
• Stickers

STEPS
1. Can use store bought playdough or homemade playdough (See: Perfect Homemade Play Dough: https://youtu.be/ZeBA_NVxRsM​).
2. Have kids roll out the playdough.
3. Use cookie cutter to cut hearts out.
4. Place in plastic baggies, and decorate bag with stickers.

Personalized Photo Card

SUPPLIES
• Large cardboard
• Camera
• Stickers
• Construction paper
• Markers

STEPS
1. Have kids decorate a Valentine’s message on a sign with stickers, paper, and markers.
2. Once finished, have a small photo shoot with child holding the sign.
3. Print multiple copies of picture and tape onto construction paper cut into cards.

Melted Crayon Hearts

SUPPLIES
• Crayons
• Muffin tin or silicone mold

STEPS
1. Remove labels from crayons, and break them into smaller pieces.
2. Add crayons to muffin tin or silicone mold.
3. Bake them for 10 minutes at 250, or however long it takes them to melt.
4. Let them cool, and pop out of mold.

Bubble Kits


SUPPLIES
• Bubble solution
• Colored paper straws
• Plastic containers
• Pipe cleaner

STEPS
1. Pour bubble solution into small plastic container.
2. To make wand, bend pipe cleaner into heart shape, and stick in a colored straw.
3. Tape wand to the side, and it makes the perfect Valentine.

Play with Your Food: Science Experiments!


Be the cool mom and let your kids play with their food. :) These 4 science experiments, using easy-to-find food, are sure to wow your kids and keep them busy.

FAKE BOOGERS

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 3 packets Gelatin
- 1/2 cup corn syrup
- Optional Food coloring

Directions
1. First have your kids pour the packets of gelatin into a bowl.
2. Then the adult should pour the boiling water on top of the gelatin. Kids can stir and let sit for 5 minutes.
3. In a separate bowl, add corn syrup and food coloring and stir to combine.
4. Next, slowly pour the gelatin mixture into the bowl with corn syrup and stir with a fork. Observe the change in consistency.

ICE CREAM IN A BAG

Ingredients
- 1 cup half & half
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- Dash of Vanilla
- Chocolate
- 3 cups ice
- 1/3 cup kosher or rock salt

Directions
1. Pour the half & half into sandwich sized plastic bag. Add sugar, vanilla and chocolate chips, or any other mix-ins you want.
2. Zip up the plastic bag very well.
3. In a gallon sized plastic bag, add ice and salt. Put the sandwich bag with ingredients in the gallon sized bag and zip up.
4. Shake for 10 minutes. Spoon into bowl and then your mouth! :)

GLOW IN THE DARK ICE

Ingredients
- Ice cube trays and UV flashlight
- regular ice cubes
- Tonic water

Directions

1. Freeze tonic water in an ice cube tray overnight.
2. Pop out your tonic water ice cubes into a bowl. Put regular ice cubes in a separate bowl.
3. Find a dark room and test with UV flashlight

DANCING WORMS

Ingredients
- Gummy worms
- Water to cover the worms
- A few spoonfuls of baking soda
- Glass of Vinegar

Directions
1. Cut gummy worms in half with kitchen scissors.
2. Soak worms in just enough water to cover them and mix with a few spoonfuls of baking soda. Let sit for about 30 minutes.
3. Pour a glass of vinegar. Drop the gummy worms in the glass of vinegar, one at a time and watch them slowly dance.
